Questions, answered

What size flatbed tarp do I need?

Width is usually 16–24 ft to cover an 8.5 ft deck plus the drop on both sides; length is 20–27 ft per tarp. Measure the load height to choose the drop (4, 6 or 8 ft are most common) and use two tarps for a full 48–53 ft trailer.

What is the most durable tarp material?

Coated vinyl (PVC-coated polyester) is the most waterproof and abrasion-resistant for trucks and industry; heavy canvas is a durable choice where breathability matters.

How many straps do I need for a flatbed load?

At least two for most loads, plus one more for every 10 ft of length beyond 10 ft, with combined working load limit at least half the cargo weight (FMCSA §393.106 and §393.110).

What does WLL mean on rigging gear?

Working load limit is the maximum load the item is rated to handle in normal service, set well below its breaking strength by a design factor (often 5:1 for slings and shackles).

How many straps do I need to haul a car?

Use at least four tie-downs, one per corner, rated so their combined working load limit is at least half the vehicle weight.
