How to choose the right one way lashing
Choose by load size and the strength you need, and pair lashing with the right buckles or tensioner.
Specifications explained
- Working load limit (WLL): 3,600 lbs — the maximum load the item is rated to carry in normal service. For cargo securement, the WLLs of all tie-downs on a load must add up to at least half the cargo weight (FMCSA 49 CFR 393.106).
- Breaking strength: 11,000 lbs — the force at which the item fails in testing. It is not a working rating — always plan with the WLL, which is set well below breaking strength.
- Strap width: 1-1/2 Inch — wider webbing generally carries a higher rating and spreads pressure over more of the load.
- Length: 1312 Feet — make sure the strap reaches over the load and back to the anchor with enough tail to tension properly.
Before you buy
- Add up the working load limits of all tie-downs against the cargo weight.
- Check that the end fitting matches the anchor points on your trailer.
- Make sure the length reaches over the load with tail left to tension.
Safety and care
- Tension evenly.
- Protect lashing on sharp edges.
- Do not reuse damaged lashing.
