How to choose the right ratchet chain binder
Match the binder to your chain size and grade. Ratchet binders tension gradually with less kickback; lever binders are quicker but store more energy in the handle.
Specifications explained
- Material: Steel — Steel offers high strength and abrasion resistance; check the finish for rust protection.
Before you buy
- Match chain size and grade to the binders and hooks you already use.
- Confirm the working load limit covers your share of the cargo weight.
- Measure the length needed to reach anchor points on both sides.
Safety and care
- Keep your body clear of the handle path when releasing a lever binder.
- Secure the handle after tensioning so it cannot flip open.
- Do not use cheater bars unless the binder is rated for one.
To complete your setup, many buyers also look at g70 transport chains, chain hooks and corner & edge protectors — see the suggestions below.
